This past week I have received a whole lot visits from Google for searches like:

  • facebook and entrecard
  • entrecard facebook
  • entre facebook

So I figured people might be wondering if there is a way to add your Entrecard widget to your facebook profile. There are 2 angles to this, it might be good and it might be bad for them.

Well, I must say while it sounds very interesting, it’s a whole new concept as Entrecard is an online business card for Blogs and not any other website or profile etc. So basically NO, you cannot put your Entrecard on your facebook profile unless Entrecard develops a Facebook Application where you can put your Entrecard on.

I think the concept can be nice and that website owners can get some good visitors from Facebook profiles, but they would have to change the name to something like EntreBook cause these 2 concepts are totally different.

I like the idea, I think with the amount of people using facebook each day it can harness some great potential. Maybe I should go ahead and develop the same concept as Entrecard but for Facebook…

What do you think? Would you like the concept on Facebook? Or Entrecard on Facebook?

Lol, I think I was one of the people looking for that one Google. LOL
I think they should develop it for Facebook I think.

Interesting, I will have a think about it over the weekend and see what I can find out!

Actually that’s a really good idea. An etrecard like facebook app probably would be a hit. Too bad I’m not a programmer. In fact I bet if we are talking about it right now. There is someone planning something similar right now. By the way your new theme looks great!

@Emma – I’m not really a programmer also, but I know the right people :) like Chris M.

Ok, so you would like to be able to place your Entrecard on the sidebar of your facebook profile?

I could write an application, the hard part is that it won’t be able to read directly from Entrecard, so you would have to host your own entrecard somewhere..

Let me know..

Personally I don’t think Entrecard would do this or allow it. I was thinking more of developing our own application for Facebook. Then you can advertise on your friend’s profiles etc. But where will that ad point to, your profile or your website?

Ye, see it’s not easy to integrate with Entrecard because of the authentication, etc. It is possible, but I honestly don’t have the time to code the management.

We could do our own application, which just places our own cards on your profile, thus linking to our websites for some extra exposure? Advertising on your friends profile leads to a big application, which will take a lot of time, ie. handling queues, permissions, etc.

True, maybe we should make it a long term project :)

01.18.08

I sure will love that if it is possible.

Phillip – haha, I don’t like those ;)

They should really have one for Facebook, looking at the mass amounts of people using it. Nearly 34 million I think

I’m sure Entrecard is going to expand really quickly, as it has done so thus far and that being said, I’m sure Entrecard will initiate all sorts of new grounds, including Facebook integration..

since facebook pages really don’t update with peoples stories every day – I don’t think it would be as fun as it is for blogs. part of the reason why I like entrecard is that I can read new blogs every day.

The issue with Entrecard is the concept of “Cost per advertising”. You are supposed to pay more credits to advertise on a blog with more traffic? I think that’s how the Facebook system should work like, you pay more credits for Profiles with higher traffic.

The first thing I would want is something that lets me know how many hits my profile page recieves.

I’m sure that there’s an app out there – either released or still in development – that allows you to sell adspace on your profile page. Imagine advertising Google on the profile page of MSN’s public relations officer … lol.

I think it would be a good idea to turn profile traffic into some sort of reward – monetary, entrecredits or other – because it gives a new incentive for facebookers to increase their social networking activities.

I would be all for it.

I think that it is kind of a interesting idea and if you have quite a number of friends of Facebook, you will get a decent amount of new visitors. However, I still think that it is a little inappropriate because Facebook is still a social network and EntreCard is still an ad service. Basically, you are just advertising on Facebook.

I agree with Michael.

FaceBook is more like a social networking tool for folks who do not own / operate a site(s).

EntreCard, on the other hand, is a Ad Exchange, also an extremely powerful and innovative social networking tool for folks who own / operate a site(s).

To be frank, I would very much prefer FaceBook and EntreCard not to have any direct relationships.

The plethora of FaceBook Apps kinda turned me off, royally. :)

Cheers! :D

why not? It should be a great idea.

I have never used Facebook to get traffic. I will try to implement my Entrecard widget to Facebook and see the result that can bring to my blog! Thank :P

Just thought of saying hi. I came via Entrecard.

If Entrecard releases the API, then why not? Some powerful Entrecard related applications can then be developed in Facebook

I would put it on facebook, no harm in speading the word.
