OR DOES IT? I always used “Facebook Flyers” and I must say, that was a waste of money! Paying per impression(view) made it really ineffective. One of my campaigns had 10 000 views with 4 clicks and I think my message was good. The sad fact is that your ad looks the same as all the other ads cause you can’t really design your own ad. You have to use their “system”. So I decided that it was a waste of money and never tried it again.
Then came Facebook Ads! I almost immediately started using it and learned a couple of good lessons and seen some interesting results. I think Facebook did something right, people is sticked to the website and doesn’t wanna go. They don’t click ads! They use applications and interact the whole time but they don’t click on ads.
This will give you an idea of the click through ratio I have with my one campaign:

This is one of my very small campaigns. It’s limited and I am just sending a certain amount of leads per day. So my ads are running about 4 hours a day.
As you can see on the 3rd my ad was displayed 72000 times and had only 11 clicks. Now if I was using Google targeted keywords I would have had prob a 1000 clicks +/-. Facebook Ads is also targeted, but it’s targeted to their likes or interests. So personally in my experience with a couple of campaigns, it’s not so relevant. The user might have selected Food as an interest, but thats not what he is looking for now.
Amazing Clicks/Leads Ratio
This makes up for the small amount of clicks. Weird but in this specific campaign 8 out of 10 clicks is a lead, which makes it a freaken good campaign. Other campaigns did not perform so well in the past. So this campaign is making me an average of R450 / $70 a day and only costing me R25 / $3.5 a day. It’s not bad for the amount of money and energy I have to put into it.
Facebook Ads – Bad Ass & Lazy Ass features!
BAD ASS
- You can create your own pages for your product or business. (I would not use this ever but it’s a nice to have if you’ve got a off line business with no website)
- And off course you can target specific people like gender, location, age, their likings, their workplace and more.
- Self help service! So you can maintain everything from cost per click to views blah blah…

LAZY ASS
- You can’t really have your own “Banner ad”. It’s a box, with text you typed for a heading, body and URL.
- You can though upload an image, but the whole display is just ugly.
- Not WOW statistics
- Your directing URL must be displayed. So don’t use any affiliate links like http://www.thebestwebengineeringcompany.com/?affiliateid=4324
So I think Facebook Ads is OK. It’s not as targeted as Google Adwords but it’s another advertising medium. It takes a lot of practice using Facebook Ads, trust me, I have spent a lot of money before making some good money. I think I am going to do a step by step Video tutorial on Facebook ads very soon.

Oh, another feature missing from them is to modify and ad after creating it. You can’t edit it at all!
Howzit, I am also using the facebook ads and return kinda sucks. But I will play round more.
While surfing the Internet via Entrecard, I noticed that quite a few bloggers are making money with Facebook. There’s Lara Saad, for one.
As for me, got a lot to learn about Facebook. I thought it just for socializing, meeting new friends and all that jazz. I think I’ve to take a hard lok on Facebook.
Greetings and lotta loves from Malaysia.
yea I definitely agree – I wasted time and little money – since they canned my sorry ads – facebook is pointless to market too – I just do not know how some people managed it on there
The point is that Facebook ads is not targeted enough like Google Adwords. I prefer Adwords and until Facebook makes a couple of huge changes I won’t spend much money there.
You’re doing a poor job of targeting your audience. It needs to be very specific. Facebook ads are GREAT. Between servreal campaigns I have averaged CTRs of 0.7% …very effective. NOBODY should have CTRs of 0.03% or lower. I’ve been paying 3 cents per click… 3 CENTS!!! that comes to 100 cliks for $3. It’s fantastic!!!
Steezy, very nice. Where you located? Maybe it depends on location because if you target people who like dogs in the US and are older than 18 you reach 1000s of people. Here is South Africa you will only reach 300. Just a thought.
So what is the best, google ad or facebook ad?i am running 2 campaign is facebook ads, seems like not really as good as i expect.maybe will try to use google ads.Steezy, how you can make it ,will check with u man.
