Guest post by Wogan May from WoganMay.com

HostPaid.com is a revolution in the world of free hosting. Unlike other free hosts – one-man, underskilled, overambitious sellouts – HostPaid has approached the free hosting market with a different idea in mind: Free hosting that lasts.

HostPaid is run by several webmasters who, discontent with the available free hosting services, have struck out and established their own. Some of their core principles include quality, service, and stability.

We do not overload our servers, nor oversell our resources (even though we’re giving them away). Reliability is a key factor in the service we provide as is quality. Simply because we provide a free service doesn’t mean we should skimp on what is important. –Jonathan – Owner, HostPaid

HostPaid officially kicked off very early in January, 2008. In accordance with their policy on not overloading servers, they only had 50 accounts to offer. At the time of this post, only 20 of those accounts were taken. I’m willing to bet many more will vanish soon. And with account features like these, I’m surprised there are still accounts available:

1GB disk space

10GB monthly bandwidth

Cpanel 11.17+

Unlimited ftp/email accounts, sub/parked/addon domains, and MySQL databases

Choice of own domain, or a HostPaid subdomain

Everything else you would expect from a paid webhost

Legendary server stability

Top-notch customer service

Furthermore, HostPaid promises to deliver (and has delivered) on three more very important fronts. And by doing so, they set themselves completely in a class of their own:

We offer quite a few things that are simply unheard of in the free web hosting industry, specifically, a Server & Network Uptime Guarantee, an Ad-Free Guarantee and actual web hosting account support from a real person. – Jonathan – Owner, HostPaid.

Since HostPaid is looking to offer high quality free hosting, they need a system that generates income for themselves – yet keeps the system free at the same time. This is achieved through the mechanism of affiliate referrals. Before you can register an account at HostPaid, you need to sign up at one of their affiliate networks. It’s a process that, as Jon explains, benefits all parties concerned.

The affiliates listed are not *just* to provide income for HostPaid, they are also there to help our clients earn additional income from their website. … If you’re a webmaster and you sign up for one of the networks and our hosting, you’ve just “killed two birds with one stone”, in a sense. You now have reliable hosting to host your website and a way to earn income. – Jonathan – Owner, HostPaid

Account setup was phenomenally fast. I registered at DealDotCom, then applied at HostPaid. They created and activated my account within six hours after registering, and I was able to log in to my cPanel!

And, as mentioned in that list, their support really is top-notch. I signed up with my primary domain (WoganMay.com), but I asked them to change it – and they complied within two hours. Then I was having trouble adding a domain on – and they sorted it out just as quickly. I’ve been at many, many free hosts in my time, and I’ve never seen service like this. The most I’ve ever gotten was a “lol, try adding it again”-type response – and that was from an “industry leader in free hosting”.

Another thing that I really like about HostPaid is that they really listen to their customers. I recommended a few changes to their cPanel and welcome emails, and they actually heard me out. HostPaid definitely has that human touch…

I don’t even get this level of service from my local paid provider – never mind for free! The support was also amazing – they obviously knew what they were doing. At the speed with which they serviced my requests, I can only assume that they have years of experience in this industry.

To be quite honest, this level of quality shouldn’t be free. Yet, it is, because four people decided it was necessary:

My name is Jon (Jonathan) and I am the Owner of HostPaid. There is also Kim, who is our Account & Affiliate Manager, Josh who heads our Support Department and James who also works in our Support Department. – Jonathan – Owner, HostPaid

Speaking from personal experience, I really have to say that I’m above impressed with their services. Because they’re only aiming at a small user base for now (50 clients), I’m confident that their quality of service will remain this high for a while yet. And since they’re so dedicated to what they’re doing, I can only expect more good reports to follow.

As of this moment, there are 30 accounts left, before they close their first server to registrations. If you’re looking for an excellent, no-nonsense PAID host, then you might as well get it right now, for free: Click here!

Summary

Forget everything you thought you knew about hosting. With founders as dedicated as these, HostPaid is definitely set to be a major success in the long run. So if you’re looking for no-nonsense high-quality web hosting, just click here: http://www.hostpaid.com/why-choose-hostpaid/

After I posted about insaneGB’s great offer it turned out to be not all that. They made a lot of promises and at the end they didn’t deliver. And I got a lot of interesting FACTS from a cool guy named Wogan May on his post My InsaneGB Experience

Let’s get this going,

their first promise was and still is:

“We are a Free Web Host without forced ads! That means that we will not force any ads directly onto your website like most other free hosting companies. Instead we do offer advertisements placed directly onto our main website, forums and main cPanel pages.”

Why?

Indeed a lot of free hosts go off line and just disappear, but we are different, we are actually here to stay for a long term. We have the funds and the skills to set up a company like this, and we plan on keeping it like it for a long time.

So what do we call this on all their client’s websites?

I call it a link to a forum and an affiliate link to Hostgator, inserted right into the HTML pages of their clients. That means they went on the server, opened their clients’ HTML pages and inserted the links.I think thats a bit of a privacy breach in my opinion.

Later on the the admin (seth) went missing and did not return to the forums much. Issues that was there from the start weren’t getting resolved etc.

insaneGB for Sale?

Wogan May found him on MSN one night and he wanted to auction insaneGB off. The server costs were getting to the point where they couldn’t pay for them, and he claimed he wanted to move on to other things. Weird thing to do when you claim you have the financial backing and this post by the admin:

nope, if the server is full we just add a new one, simple aint it?

I guess it’s not that simple?

Confronting insaneGB

According to Wogan he got hold of Seth and the admin, confronted them about the ads on his website. The admin gave him a hard time about him not knowing what was going on and the costs he had to pay.

They actually also asked Wogan to moderate the forums for them?

Another weird statement in their Privacy Policy:

“From time to time, we make the e-mail addresses of those who access our site available to other reputable organizations whose products or services we think you might find interesting.”

Finally

They decided to post a very interesting message on their homepage:

Dear Customers, We are in the process of rebuilding insaneGB, we already enabled forced ads and downgraded the packages. The reason for this is because some of you did not appreciate what we offered to you and used it to host illegal content breaching our ToS daily. The forced ads are up because we want to get a new server to balance the server loads that have been abused heavily lately. Forced ads are temporarily until further notice. Thank you for understanding.

Wow! On their homepage, what an unprofessional message to convey to your clients and new prospects as clients.

Just proves that not all the free things in life is so Good!

Let’s see if they can come give us some constructive feedback on whats going on…

Credits:
Wogan May
InsaneGB

This past month I looked at a couple of web hosting options – opening new accounts and just checking things out. I need some big bandwidth and space but also good service and nice features. Don’t I just sound like a client! Want the world! So I ended up at IMHosted.com with their amazing 12 000 gigabyte bandwidth hosting package. But unfortunately they ended up to be incompetent in too many ways (in my very own opinion) but judge for yourself.

This is what happened:

On their website they state it will take up to 6 hours max even in holidays. Wow, isn’t that awesome service? Well it took them 2 days just to get back to me. Then another couple of hours before it was setup. Aaarrgghh!

Ok, setup great! According to their “Special Package” I wasn’t supposed to pay for setup, and guess what? Yes I paid, but though ok I will ask them after signup to refund.(maybe an error on their side)

I emailed them, never got a response. I asked about the setup fees with other emails I sent them and no response about that. Still waiting…

So we started moving over domains. Creating the packages on their CP and running a DNS update on my side. Then…. I get errors from my domain registrar – Invalid DNS. So I contact them and they treat me like an idiot – Like I don’t know how it works… Eventually they look on their side and the next day I get an email stating it has been resolved and I should try again. Wow, it actually worked.

More domain pointings -> Same error, so I contact them again. So they tell me its on my side………. Now I was getting pissed. The same time while I didn’t know my college was busy with them via email also and they told him “We have to ‘activate’ it from our side first for security reasons” – What the @#$@#. Do they just tell stories and get bananas for lunch?

So now today, I still don’t have my money back. Still struggling with domain DNS updates and still working with these people. Will I stay? hhhmmm

Update on the insaneGB.com article I posted a while ago – I setup an account with them to test it out. Very nice CP and speed is not too bad but the next day my database was gone and their own website was off. Kinda creeped me out! So it might be a bit risky so don’t host any important domains there. Their support is also a bit… Interesting… But hey, try them out and let us know how they are: InsaneGB.com

Unbelievably true, InsaneGB.com is hosting websites for Free. They just launched a couple of weeks ago and is a total ad-free host. A statement from them: “We are a Free Web Host without forced ads!
Appearing to offer the impossible, InsaneGB is offering 100% completely free web hosting with 5 GB of storage space and 200 GB monthly bandwidth. What makes this really amazing is that you can host your domain with them (or use a subdomain from them if you wish), are given your own full CPanel, and there will never be a single ad on your website.

So go ahead and give them a go: InsaneGB.com and it won’t cost you nothing…
