I am so excited about this year. Finally I am doing what I love. No more clients (for now), no more long hours at the office… As some of you might know I had a company for 4 years here locally and well… I just got fed-up!

I am so excited about this year. Finally I am doing what I love. No more clients (for now), no more long hours at the office… As some of you might know I had a company for 4 years here locally and well… I just got fed-up!
New websites in 2008
I am an affiliate marketing junkie. That’s where the money’s at, so that’s where I am focusing on. Building websites around a niche or a product with a good affiliate merchant. I am still in a struggle about launching websites local(.co.za), international(.com) or both?
Projects I’m busy with at the moment and in this year is:
Lifechanger.co.za
It’s a project I am working on with some of my Canadian friends and it holds great opportunity of revenue for me, them and anyone else joining the system. Unfortunately it’s South African only for now…
Gaming Websites (including egames.co.za)
I am moving slowly but surely into the online gaming sector, because the market is huge. People play online games every day, at work, home or just when they are bored… I will also be launching more interactive game websites all over the net and not just locally. I am still testing different affiliate programs on these websites but I personally think that ring tones might do the job. I’ll let you in on the best way to monetize these types of websites as soon as I know.
AffiliateGossip.com

This is like my baby, my joy, my pride. Launching early this year it will be the main and leading Affiliate Programs review website. I’m not doing the XHTML/CSS myself, rather decided to get the pros to do it for me.
Here is a preview of the search results:

You will see a list of programs like the above and then click on “Template Monster” in this case to get a full page overview of the campaign.
The great thing about the website will be that there will be tons of great functionalities like:
- Search by Niche / product / service your website delivers
- Search by Country, so that you can get international and local campaigns to run
- User reviews of merchants and networks
There will also be other areas like:
- Forums
- Free guides for beginners to experts on affiliate marketing
- Monthly Newsletter with all the new merchants added
So I look forward to launching some great resourceful websites this year, so keep tuned in to hear all about it.
UPDATE: Oh yes, I am also planning to release a couple of nice Wordpress Themes this year!
So what ideas do you have for 2008?

Awesome stuff bud, so great to be able to hear about things on a business note, but more of a personal touch, all the best with your ventures!
Wow, busy person. Good luck with all those ventures.
Personally, I’d take .co.za. Because if this graph is correct, it’s becoming rare namespace.
What am I getting up to this year? There’s one site that’s been bugging me for a long time, and I think I might actually build it this year. I’m a writer, so do the math
I also recently found out that PayPal is a piece of , so I’m not going to bother with international affiliate programs. If there’s really as much untapped potential as you say, I’m expecting a few good local advertisement networks to pop up – there’s already TrafficSynergy and Peppor, and maybe one or two others that I don’t know about.
As far as actually earning a living online … who knows? Would be nice, though

Thanks Chris!
@Wogan – The problem with .co.za is that you can’t really reach international traffic that good in the SEO world. You popup in the 30th page when the US guys search in google. But when having a .com it’s a whole new story.
As for Paypal, yes, here in SA it sucks. Just get someone overseas and use their account and then use the money in the account to buy things online to start new ventures. (domains, hosting, scripts etc)
I prefer Trafficsynery but also use http://za.offerforge.com
Well, that all depends on the market you’re targeting, doesn’t it?
Also, you know as well as I do that having a .com means nothing if you don’t do the rest of your SEO work properly. And I get the feeling that you can also make a .co.za domain hit SERP #1 if you market it properly.
Mhmm – paypal sucks. So much so that I’m going to rant about it on my blog, and give all 350 reasons why I say that. And I doubt whether I’ll entrust my money to someone else’s account – or whether I’ll find somebody who will trust me.
People become really funny when money’s involved. I’ve seen it all too often.
Thanks for the lead on Offerforge.

Hitting #1 in Google is easy peezy here in South Africa. 90% of my posts here are ranked 1st for 3 – 5 keywords. But the traffic sucks, cause our internet population sucks! Try hitting #1 ranking with a .com, a good keyword and international search, not so easy hey. But if you can do it, you know the traffic will flood in.
Dammit, I would love to join in on this conversation, I’m just so darn swamped at the moment
Can’t wait to see what more you have in store for us Phil
